Alexander Artikis is a Research Associate at the National Centre for Scientific Research ”Demokritos”, in Athens, Greece. He holds a PhD from Imperial College London on the topic of norm-governed multi-agent systems. His research interests lie in the areas of artificial intelligence and distributed systems. Alexander has been working on several international projects on multi-agent systems and event processing; currently, he is the technical director of the FP7 SPEEDD project that develops a Big Data system for proactive event-driven decision-making. Alexander has also developed a highly scalable, logic-based, open-source event processing system, directly usable for executing multi-agent systems. Alexander has taught undergraduate courses on Logic and Distributed Artificial Intelligence in the University of Piraeus (Greece), and Artificial Intelligence in the Hellenic Open University. He has given tutorials on topics related to artificial intelligence and distributed systems in EASSS 2010, AAMAS 2010, DEBS 2010 and 2012, and IJCAI 2011. He will give tutorials on formal methods for event processing in EDBT 2014 and ECAI 2014.
